Director of Operations

Do you have strong administrative skills and an interest in strengthening a cultural organization?  The Alutiiq Museum is hiring a Director of Operations. We seek a sharp, professional leader to keep our administrative offices organized and ensure the museum continues its strong record of service and innovation.  

This position serves on the museum’s management team, supporting the Executive Director, managing daily finances, caring for facilities, and working closely with a collaborative professional staff. Full-time (40 hours/week) or three-quarter time (30 hours/week) negotiable. Salary range $70,000 — $80,000.

Museum Generalist

The Alutiiq Museum is hiring a Museum Generalist. This permanent position will work throughout the organization, supporting projects in all departments and gaining experience in programming and operations. The Museum Generalist will be trained in collections care, exhibits, language & educational outreach, operations, and development. This position is ideal for applicants who wish to explore museum work before specializing and advancing within the organization. Full-time preferred, part-time possible with a wage range of $18 to $20 per hour. Applications will be accepted until February 21 at 4:00 pm. Summer Internships Available

Spend your summer learning about archaeology, collections care, and public outreach as an Alutiiq Museum intern. We are offering eight-week internships working with our professional staff throughout the museum. These are paid positions, starting in late May or early June. They are supported by funding from the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council through the CORaL Network. Preference will be given to applicants with connections to the oil spill-affected region. Cultural Heritage Intern

This position is open to students aged 16 or older who are interested in an introduction to heritage preservation careers. No previous experience is necessary but you must have housing in Kodiak. This position can be 20 to 40 hours a week and pays $15 per hour. 

Advanced Cultural Heritage Intern

The position is open to students and young career professionals at least 18 years old, with previous field experience in archaeology or a related field.  A travel and/or housing stipend may be available. This is a 40-hour-a-week position that pays $17 per hour.
